A Historic Gem
Originally built around 1814 from local ironstone with an elegant brick cap Wymondham Windmill is a five storey tower mill once equipped with six patent sails in a rare Six Arm Lincolnshire Cross configuration.
It operated as a working mill grinding corn until 1952 and later processed animal feed until around 1960.
Today the windmill stands as one of only four six sail windmills remaining in the UK and is protected as a Grade II listed building.
In recent years significant restoration work has been carried out through heritage projects such as The Living Mill supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and East Leicestershire LEADER ensuring the mill and its story remain preserved for future generations.
